Urgent Request for Item Donations to Help Greyhounds
On Sunday, April 19, 2009 Greyhound Pets of America (G.P.A.) - Tampa Bay will hold its 8th Annual “Run With The Big Dogs” charity event (See attached flyer). All proceeds raised by this event will directly support G.P.A. efforts to foster and find good homes for retired greyhound racing dogs from Derby Lane dog track. They are in desperate need of help from the crafting community because the event is just around the corner and they have not received enough donations to fill their gift baskets. Items are also in need for the silent auction... we're running out of time, so please hurry, all items need to be in the mail no later then 3/27. Donate Items to Help CNY Cat Coalition
The CNY Cat Coalition http://www.cnycatcoalition.org
is planning a fundraiser together for May 16th. It will be titled 'no more kittens in a box' and designed to both educate about all the dumped kittens this time of year and raise some buffer funds when the inevitable abandonment's happen. They will be having 'kittens' people can donate toward bailing them out of a box, a chart set up detailing the cost per kitten a rescue group incurs per drop off, and some raffles. They would love any craft/item donations for the raffles. They say; “I know one woman who knits toy mouses and knits catnip into their centers. another thing that would go over well would be heat pads made of rice or cracked corn. They would both be used for human stress reduction or animal rescue when animals come to us in poor health and need to be kept warm.”
