Store: wolfgangzehen Carolynn is a haiku poet and cat lover. Recently, her 17-year-old cat Wolfgang died. He had 24 toes - a super-foot and a sub-foot on each front leg. In his honor, she creates pieces about cat feet. She knows all cat lovers enjoy playing with cat toes! Hence the name, WolfgangZehen - "Wolfgang Toes" in German. She grew the idea for photo, poem and an interesting typeface as components of a unified art piece from an undergraduate art history class in East Asian Art. Carolynn grew up around scrolls, paintings and triptychs in the the Monumental style of China, though the ones she knew were Japanese. When she took the course she learned that the Chinese venerated the Three Gems in art - poetry, calligraphy and painting. One work could have three contributors, and some poets and calligraphers were known beyond their locations and their life-spans. Combine that with lolcat and you've got it. She says she's no painter, and that her handwriting looks like Jack the Ripper's scrawl, but she's pretty sure she can write haiku and point a camera! Haiku is the form that makes the most sense to Carolynn as a writer: minimalist, a logical syllabic form (5-7-5), a punch of humor or sobering truth. And Microsoft Word, for all its shortcomings, does have some cool fonts. That's the story. Enjoy! Remember that all purchases provide cash donations to IndyFeral.org or FaceSpayNeuter.org, both of which promote responsible pet ownership and humane treatment of animals. Info about me and animals: Carolynn has had cats, hamsters and gerbils since she was seven years old. Her parents' treatment of all animals taught her that animals are to be respected and venerated as friends, and this became ingrained in her belief system early on. She loved petting zoos as a child, and loves them still. She abhors cruelty in all forms and does her best to shop cruelty-free and organically when she can afford it. Carolynn has a fiscally questionable habit of taking in stray cats, and this has expanded to caring for feral cats and even learning to love dogs and other animals with whom she has little experience. Carolynn believes that, as children, all animals begin as pure love, and that only fear and abuse can change that. She also believes that human patience and love toward abused animals, in turn, can change that fear back to love once again. Charity of Choice: IndyFeral.org, FaceSpayNeuter.org
